City of Boca Raton Presidential Election Vote Results 2020 vs 2016

This article provides detailed information, to the precinct level, regarding the City of Boca Raton’s distribution of presidential votes in the 2020 and 2016 general elections. Although there were a number of candidates competing for the offices of president and vice president, we limit our scope to the democratic and republican candidates as they won a significant majority of votes.

2020 Boca Raton Presidential Election Results

The following table provides a summary of election results from Boca Raton’s 38 precincts and 71,714 registered voters at the end of October, 2020.

2020 Presidential Election Summary

Of a total of 56,021 votes cast for the candidates in the above table, the votes-won difference is only 277 votes. 

We can divide the city into three areas for comparison purposes. The eastern section consists of the 11 precincts and 23,399 registered voters east of Federal Highway (US1). The middle section consists of the 13 precincts and 26,349 registered voters in the area between Federal Highway (US1) and I95. The western section consists of the 14 precincts and 21,876 registered voters west of I95.

The Trump/Pence team won in the eastern section, the middle section was almost even and the Biden/Harris team won in the western section.

The following map of the City of Boca Raton’s precincts shows the margin of victory in each and illustrates the distribution of votes across the city’s 38 precincts.

It should be noted that at the end of October, 2020 there were 71,714 registered voters in the City of Boca Raton. Of these registered voters 78.12% voted for the Trump/Pence and Biden/Harris candidates.

2016 Boca Raton Presidential Election Results

For comparison purposes we include the results of the 2016 Presidential Election. The following table provides a summary of election results from Boca Raton’s 37 precincts and 63,684 registered voters at the end of October, 2016.

Similar to the 2020 Presidential Election, the 2016 contest was very close. Of a total of 46,714 votes cast for the candidates in the above table, the votes-won difference is only 208 votes. The following histogram of the City of Boca Raton’s precincts shows the distribution of votes across the city’s 37 precincts.

Also included in the above graphic is the number of registered voters in each of the City of Boca Raton’s precincts that did not vote in the 2016 Presidential Election.

Summary

In this article we present results of voting in the 2020 and 2016 Presidential Elections in the City of Boca Raton to the precinct level. In both contests the results were very close for the democratic and republican candidates. In 2020 the difference was 277 votes; whereas in 2016 the difference was 208 votes. In both years the winning margin went to the Trump/Pence team

In 2020 the number of registered voters that did not vote was 15,693 and in 2016 this number was 14,991.
