January 16, 2024, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
Neighborhood Outreach Meetings – Three meetings have been scheduled for January 21, 22 and 23.
Grant Agreement – To begin drawing on the $4M USDOT grant the city must agree to USDOT terms and conditions
October 31, 2024, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
Public Meeting Held: On October 24 the city and consultant Kimley Horn held a public meeting to provide Vision Zero plans and get input from residents.
October 1, 2024, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
Kimley-Horn Consulting Agreement – a contract was signed with Kimley-Horn Consulting to assist with developing Boca’s Vision Zero Action Plan.
August 6, 2024, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
Consultant Selected – After an RFP process Kimley-Horn Consulting was selected to work with the city to develop the Vision Zero Action Plan.
Planning and Demonstration Grant Award – The city was notified that it won a $4M USDOT award for Vision Zero Action Plan planning and demonstration activities.
March 3, 2024, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
USDOT Grant Agreement – On May 25, 2023 the City signed the action plan grant agreement with the USDOT and began developing the Vision Zero action plan RFP.
Action Plan Consultant – On May 25, 2024 the City began work on the action plan RFP and it was completed and distributed to contractors on February 27, 2024. The RFP specifies that action plan proposals are to be received by the City no later than March 27,2024 and the plan is to have an agreement signed with the winning contractor by May 14, 2024.
Action Plan Development – This schedule was included in the USDOT grant agreement and also in the RFP.
March 20, 2023, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
USDOT Grant Agreement – To start receiving the $300,000 action plan grant money the city must agree to specific terms and conditions specified by the USDOT. The goal is to have the grant agreement signed by April 30, 2023.
RFP – Appropriate vendors will receive Vision Zero action plan proposal requests.
Proposals – The contractors who received the RFP will respond to the city with proposals for developing the Vision Zero action plan.
Agreement – The city will sign an agreement with the winning contractor.
Plan Development – It will take until the end of 2023 to execute an agreement with the selected contractor. Finally, work can then begin on developing the Vision Zero action plan. Current estimates are that the action plan will be completed by October 30, 2024. All major stakeholders as well as residents will be asked to participate in the reviews of the plans developed by the contractor.
February 4, 2023, Vision Zero Tracker Update:
Resolution 122-2022 – On October 25, 2022 the city council unanimously approved Resolution 122-2022 that directs city staff to create a Vision Zero action plan. Vision Zero | Boca Raton, FL (myboca.us).
+ Grant Submission/Award – On September 15, 2022, the city submitted a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant application to the US Department of Transportation for $300,000. Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program | US Department of Transportation This grant will fund the Vision Zero action plan for the city, i.e., a consultant will be hired to develop the action plan. The awards were announced on February 1, 2023, and Boca Raton is an award winner for $300,000! Note that the SS4A program has the same goal as the city’s Vision Zero program – eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on roadways.
