Now, Boca Save Our Beaches needs your help
Hi, I’m Jessica Gray, and I am the President of the local nonprofit Boca Save our Beaches. Some of you know me personally, many of you have read my articles on preservation of Boca’s beaches and environment, or perhaps you have heard my presentations on how we as a community can protect our environment for future generations. You may have even participated in our beach cleanups and environmental workshops! I am happy to say we have gathered over 3,100 pounds of trash to date from Boca Raton.
Through Boca Save Our Beaches, I been vocal and active in opposition to development of Boca’s beaches, specifically beachfront lots at 2500 and 2600 N. Ocean Boulevard. As you may know, development of beachfront lots has been forbidden by our City’s Ordinance since 1981.
Now, I am asking for your help. Azure Development (2600 N Ocean) was recently denied a permit to build on the pristine, unbuildable beaches of Boca Raton by City Council. And, now they are suing the City through the offices of their attorney, Robert Sweetapple.
Due to my persistent and vocal opposition, I have been subpoenaed with this lawsuit, Azure has served Boca Save Our Beaches, Inc. for a deposition on May 6th. More to the point, Boca Save Our Beaches, Inc. is required to turn over our communications (including email and text messages) that we have had with anyone (except our attorneys) regarding these two lots. And, what has Azure Development done for our City? Apparently, Azure Development believes it has the money it takes to develop their unbuildable beachfront lot while causing financial damage to those who speak out against them, one way or the other. Here is how their attorney, Robert Sweetapple, explained it at the City Council hearing.

Boca Save our Beaches is a 100% volunteer community who does not have money to pay for legal fees. Every donation EVER received goes right back into the community.
