FAU Progressive Black Men Inc.

by Nile Fortner

Florida Atlantic University’s Progressive Black Men, Inc. (PBM) was chartered on November 19, 2012, and the FAU Chapter is the first chapter of PBM in South Florida.

The mission of PBM is to eradicate negative stereotypes of African-Americans and Black people through academic excellence, communal support, a fellowship of brothers, and high standards of personal integrity.

As a community service organization, the chapter aims to fulfill its five points of progression, Family and Community Development, Educational Development, Health Awareness, Economic Empowerment, and Political Awareness.

On Episode XX (20) of the BocaFirst podcast, Boca Soul Connexion/BocaSoulX, president of PBM, Michael Jean-Juste discusses with Nile Fortner, the on-campus and off-campus work of PBM.

Michael also shares with Nile what he’d like to see for the future of PBM, the importance of this FAU organization, and more on this BocaFirst podcast episode.
