BOCA RATON FL, MAY 12 2025 – At a time when it seemed that the public and government interest and will to address Boca Raton’s disconnected ad-hoc car-centric infrastructure was on the rise after decades of lip service, now Boca Raton is losing it’s new Director of Mobility after only 8 months. At the May 12 Citizen’s Pedestrian and Bike Advisory board meeting, Transportation Mobility & Connectivity Director Nathan George announced his last day working for the city would be June 6th.
The highly qualified and effective George came to Boca from the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency in September 2024. This is a setback for Vision Zero and solving Boca’s mobility crisis. George was very effective in getting the City moving on Vision Zero and attacking the the backlog of strategic pedestrian and bike initiatives. According to George, the mobility mission will revert back to its previous configuration under Director of Municipal Services Zach Bihr with Traffic Engineer Naresh Machavarapu in the role of liason to the Citizen Pedestrian and Bike Advisory Board. The city job posting web page does not list an opening for a replacement Mobility Director.
The City did not respond to our request for comment.
